Sosyal bilgilerde çevre eğitimi: lisansüstü çalışmalara ait bir inceleme

Abstract

Çevre eğitimi, pek çok derste olduğu gibi Sosyal Bilgiler dersinde de son derece önemli konular arasında yer almaktadır. Öyle ki, çevre eğitiminin gerekliliği Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretim Programında da sürekli vurgulanmaktadır. Bu bakımdan, gerek öğretmenlere gerekse bu alanda çalışan araştırmacılara Sosyal Bilgilerde çevre eğitiminin önemini anlatmaya yönelik büyük görevler düşmektedir. Çünkü, bir alanda yapılan akademik çalışmalar o alanın gelişmesine katkı sağlar. Bu araştırmada, Türkiye’de Sosyal Bilgilerde çevre eğitimine yönelik hazırlanan yüksek lisans ve doktora tezleri incelenerek, yapılan bu lisansüstü çalışmaların yönelimleri belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman incelemesi kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler satır satır kodlama yapılarak tümdengelimsel (betimsel) analiz yöntemiyle analiz edilmiş; önce temalara sonra bu temalardan da bulgulara ulaşılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda; Sosyal Bilgiler alanında çevre eğitimi ile ilgili tezlerin sınırlı olduğu; Sosyal Bilgilerde çevre eğitimi konusunun daha çok yüksek lisans düzeyinde çalışıldığı belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca, araştırmaların genel olarak öğretmenlerden ve öğretmen adaylarından mesleki yeterliliklerine ve çevreye karşı tutumlarına ilişkin görüş alma şeklinde yapıldığı görülmüştür. Araştırmalar genellikle nicel araştırma yöntemi ile yürütüldüğünden nitel araştırma yöntemine dayalı çalışmaların çok sınırlı olduğu; daha çok ölçek ve anket uygulamaya dayalı araştırmaların yapıldığı tespit edilmiştir. Araştırma sonuçlarına dayanarak, çevre eğitimini konu edinen uygulamalı doktora tez çalışmalarına öncelik verilmesi gerektiği söylenebilir. Ayrıca araştırmalarda daha derinlemesine veri toplayabilmek amacıyla nitel araştırma yöntemlerine ağırlık verilmesi gerekmektedir.

In this respect, there is a great deal of responsibility for explaining the importance of environmental education in Social Studies to both teachers and researchers in this field. Because, the development of a field is related to research in that field. It is also one of the most important topics in the Social Studies course.This research aims to determine the orientation of graduate and doctoral theses conducted in the field of Environmental Education in Social Studies in Turkey. In this research was used.document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, The data were analyzed by line-line coding; firstly the themes were then reached from these themes. It was determined as a result of the research that there are limited theses on environmental education in the field of Social Studies; environmental education in the Social Studies, is mostly studied at the graduate level. In general, it has been studied that teachers and pre-service teachers generally have their opinions about their professional competence and their attitudes towards the environment. In addition, It was determined as a result of the research that the studies were conducted with quantitative research method and the studies based on qualitative research method were very limited; more scale and survey based on application-based research. Based on the results of the research, it can be said that priority should be given to applied doctoral thesis studies on environmental education. In addition, in order to collect more in-depth data, it is necessary to focus on qualitative research methods.
