Utilisation of waste bricks as cement replacement material in concrete production
Abstract
Waste clay bricks constitute one of the important groups of the waste materials that cause environmental problems unless the proper use of these materials is found. In this study, the clay brick wastes obtained from a commercial brick manufacturing plant were researched whether they can be used as pozzolans in concrete production. Thereby, the waste bricks were finely ground and partially replaced with Portland cement during the production of concrete and compressive strength tests, Differential Thermal Analyses (DTA) and Mercury Intrusion Porosimetry (MIP) tests were performed on prepared concrete samples at different ages.
