A Comparative Study on Nitrate Reductase Activity (NRA) of Some Endemic Plants From Uludağ National Park
Abstract
In this study, nitrate reductase activity (NRA) of 14 endemic species (Achillea multifida (DC.) Boiss., Carduus olympicus Boiss. subsp olympicus, Centaurea drabifolia Sm. subsp drabifolia, Doronicum bithynicum J.R. Edmondson subsp bithynicum, Scorzonera pygmaea Sibth. & Sm. subsp pygmae, Olymposciadium caespitosum (Sm.) Wolff, Asyneuma rigidum (Willd.) Grossh. subsp rigidum, Jasione supina Sieber subsp supina, Dianthus leucopha-eus Sibth. & Sm. var leucophaeus, Rumex olympicus Boiss., Allium flavum L. subsp flavum var minus, Allium olym-picum Boiss., Festuca punctoria Sm. and Festuca paphlagonica (St.-Yves) Markgr.-Dannenb. subsp paphlagonica) spread on alpine and sub-alpine zones in mount of Ulu (Uludağ), Bursa-Turkey was determined. Species were compared with respect to NR activity in leaves. The highest NRA value (7.34 ± 2.51 pmol N02'/g dry w h) was found in Rumex olympicus and the lower NRA values were found in Allium species (A. flavum 0.195 ± 0.113 pmol NO-2"/g dry w h and A. olympicum 0.128 ± 0.085 pmol NO2-/7g dry w h).
