Development of Student'S Visual Memory in Design Education Programmes; a Practice for Using Personal Blog
Abstract
First year education programme of universities that have the art and design departments have considerably important in terms of being the first place meeting with the fundamental components of design. Fundamental competences that are to acquire through first class education are given via Basic Design Course predominantly therefore this course has the highest credit and course hours. In this course it is aimed for students to have knowledge about the basic concepts and principles of design. In the meantime course is also supported by contributory studies to raise the visual memories of design students. It is widely acclaimed approach among entire design educational programs that development of student's visual memory contributes brain's perception of the aesthetic. Together with the increasing of technological developments, new resources and methodologies should be configured in parallel with the studies within the basic design courses. In this context making "opening a personal blog" on internet as one of the success requirements of the course; is important in terms of construction of a virtual library that devoted to their visual memory and an interactive relation and communication ambient with other students. The aim of this paper is to make an assessment on contribution of usage of personal design blogs to development of their visual memory through first grader students that have design education.
