In the present study, high iron oxide containing red mud appeared and disposed during the metallic aluminium production of Seydisehir aluminium factory of Turkey was combined with several colouring oxides for the purpose of pigment production. Resultant pigments were then incorporated into industrially available semi-transparent, opaque and matte wall tile and bright opaque and matte floor tile glazes with 3 and 5 mass %. Since homogenously distributed and acceptable colours were achieved with the use of these pigments, glazed wall and floor tiles were examined according to standard tests. Additionally, characterisation studies were also conducted. As a result, it was determined that produced pigments could easily be used in the relevant glaze systems confirming the utilisation of red mud.en_US
