Research determining issues on the administrative success of security services at civil airports in Turkey

The aim of this study is to identify problems affecting the managerial success of airport security services in Turkey and to develop solutions for these problems. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with a total of 19 participants serving in various positions in the Turkish National Police (TNP) and Private Security and Customs Enforcement Organizations in Turkey's airport security services. The qualitative data obtained were analyzed using the inductive method. As a result of the analysis, problems affecting the managerial success of airport security services in Turkey were evaluated under the themes of 'different organizations serving in airport security services,' aviation security not being a field of specialization,' problems stemming from regulation,' problems stemming from audits,' problems specific to stake-holders,' aviation security training,' and 'security commitment.'
