Reality-based design of studio in architectural education
Özet
The architectural design studio is an important process, which aims to shape the architectural sensitivities ofstudents and to develop their communicative abilities as well as their problem-solving skills. Within this context, the intuitive and rational models practiced as a design studio method in the course entitled "Building Design IV" in the Department of Architecture of the Anadolu University (Turkey) have been examined in order to develop design thinking of the students. To strengthen environmental and social relationships, an innovative studio approach called "reality-based architectural design studio" has been developed in this study, included in the program, and put in practice during two consecutive semesters. This research contributes to unravel the reality-based architectural problem and to resolve it in an optimal manner for the creation of a humanistic environment. This experience provides a venue for architect candidates for the simulation of the thinking methods that they will encounter later on in practical architectural projects, and develops their design skills and behaviors. It then refines and suggests strategies that they will need to successfully adapt to their professional life in the future. The goal of this study is to contribute to future studies in the specialization of the critical first stages of the design process through the creation of computer ?ools." The data thus obtained and the design awareness relayed to future architects will contribute to the long-term planning and research phases in historical and cultural sites, as well as provide local administrative units with knowledge through a process of active contribution and collaboration.
