Synthesis of an iron-chromium ceramic pigment by using limonite and chromite mixtures
Özet
The pigments, which are important parts of ceramic industry, have been produced by a prolonged expensive process due to a necessity of using very expensive pure oxides. Therefore, it is important to produce pigments from relatively less expensive and less pure raw materials. Bearing this in mind, in this study, production of pigments by calcination of limonite and chromite mixtures were undertaken. The resulting pigments were characterised using x-ray diffraction (XRD). 3 wt% colouring agent from all the pigments obtained were added to transparent glazes and the colours obtained after glazing are defined by L*a*b* measurements.
